Castor oil can be used to make a compress that is placed on the lower abdomen to help relieve pain by improving circulation and reducing inflammation. This traditional remedy has recently gained popularity on social media. To make a castor oil pack, saturate a piece of flannel or cotton cloth with castor oil, place it on the lower abdomen, cover it with plastic wrap, and apply a heating pad or hot water bottle for 30-60 minutes. The combination of heat and oil can help alleviate pain, reduce muscle spasms, and support the body's natural detoxification processes.
FOR CASTER OIL PACKS
To create a castor oil pack, you'll need cloth. These large muslin cloths are a great option, as castor oil can stain, so it's best not to use anything you plan to use for other purposes. While you can purchase special compress packs, muslin cloths are an effective and budget-friendly alternative.

For Surgery
Compression socks are recommended for use after abdominal surgery as they minimize various risks, including blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and swelling.
After surgery, on your way home and while you are at home, it is recommended to wear loose, soft cotton "granny style" pants. These provide plenty of room for swelling and help minimize any discomfort.
In the hospital, the lights can be on all night, making it hard to get the rest you need. Bringing a sleep eye mask can be a great way to block out the brightness and help you sleep better.
Having a water bottle on hand can be very useful in the hospital or while you recover at home. Make sure it's leak-proof so you can drink from it in a reclined position, and ensure it's BPA-free.
Hospitals can be busy and loud places, so if you have an overnight stay or will be there for a couple of days, having noise-reducing earplugs can be very useful to ensure you get the undisturbed rest and sleep you'll need plenty of!
After surgery, your lips might be dehydrated and dry. Having a hydrating lip balm on hand can help alleviate this.
After surgery, your throat might feel dry and scratchy. Having throat lozenges on hand can help soothe this.
After surgery, it's often advised to take paracetamol or ibuprofen to manage pain. It might be a good idea to stock up on these medications before your surgery. Always check with your doctor to confirm what pain medications you are allowed to take.
You won't be able to bathe properly for a while after your operation. Having baby wipes on hand at the hospital or at home can help you feel clean until you can wash properly.
